Dye Garden at Dartmouth Organic Farm, Hanover, NH

The dye garden was created in 2023 through a collaboration between the Dartmouth Book Arts Workshop & Dartmouth Organic Farm. It is located in the flower bed at the front of the O Farm and contains a variety of annual and perennial dye plants including Diablo cosmos, Dyer’s coreopsis, pericón, Queen Sophia marigolds, Hopi black-dye sunflowers, culinary sage, and rudbeckia. I have offered programming related to the garden and other dye plants that can be found growing wild around the farm, including plant walks and ink-making workshops.

Plant-to-Paper Garden at the Kilton Public Library, West Lebanon, NH

In 2023 I grew a bed of fiber plants in the community garden outside the Kilton Public Library, including flax, stinging nettle, milkweed, oats, and sunflowers. Throughout the summer I hosted a series of workshops and demonstrations delving deep into the process of growing fiber plants and processing them into paper.

Dye Trail at the Adirondack Interpretive Center, Newcomb, NY

During my summer 2017 residency at the Adirondack Interpretive Center I created a series of interpretive signs for the center’s trail system pointing out several plants that have historically been used for botanical dyeing. I also published an accompanying zine titled Dyes from the Forest and Field that elaborates on each plant’s properties and provides a guide for natural dyeing at home.
