Part 1: April 7th, 6-7 pm

Part 2: April 14th, 6-7 pm

Dyeing with plants opens up a world of possibility for experimentation and creativity, with the opportunity to access a nearly infinite range of color. This virtual class is broken into two sessions:

  • The first will provide an overview of how to prepare different kinds of fabrics and fibers to be dyed, how to create simple color modifiers, and how to source pigment-rich plant materials.

  • The second session will demonstrate how to extract color from plants and impart it onto fabric and fibers, how to adjust colors to your liking, and how to bundle-dye fabric to create a plant-based “tie-dye” effect. Once you know the fundamental steps, you can apply this process to nearly any fiber-based project you have in mind!

A list of materials and tools required will be emailed to you AFTER class so that you can try this at home.

This class will be using the Zoom platform.  A Zoom invitation will be sent prior to the start date with details on how to participate.

*We will also be offering an in-person Botanical Dyeing class on May 5th for those that want to learn the technique hand's on.
