Part 1: April 7th, 6-7 pm
Part 2: April 14th, 6-7 pm
Dyeing with plants opens up a world of possibility for experimentation and creativity, with the opportunity to access a nearly infinite range of color. This virtual class is broken into two sessions:
The first will provide an overview of how to prepare different kinds of fabrics and fibers to be dyed, how to create simple color modifiers, and how to source pigment-rich plant materials.
The second session will demonstrate how to extract color from plants and impart it onto fabric and fibers, how to adjust colors to your liking, and how to bundle-dye fabric to create a plant-based “tie-dye” effect. Once you know the fundamental steps, you can apply this process to nearly any fiber-based project you have in mind!
A list of materials and tools required will be emailed to you AFTER class so that you can try this at home.
This class will be using the Zoom platform. A Zoom invitation will be sent prior to the start date with details on how to participate.
*We will also be offering an in-person Botanical Dyeing class on May 5th for those that want to learn the technique hand's on.
